HOLD&RESIST_Spin-Off Version

Spin-Off Version at IMPULSTANZ Vienna International Dance Festival 2026

Premiere: August 4th
2nd show: August 6th
mumok, Vienna

This year at the ImPulsTanz festival, Liquid Loft presents a spin-off version of HOLD&RESIST_a springrite. Originally created as a music collaboration with the Austrian meta-rock electronic group Radian for the donaufestival Krems, the performance now separates itself from the band’s sound and reveals its artistic core in a concentrated form within the exhibition context of Mumok: reduced, sharpened, and focused on its essential forces.

In this spin-off version, the sounds emerge directly from the bodies themselves. Every tremor, every step, every hold and resist is translated into sound, creating a living acoustic landscape. Through the act of holding on and enduring, social conditions become tangible at the same time – pressure to perform, exhaustion, control, and the need to resist. HOLD&RESIST explores the body within this field of tension and turns attention toward gravity as both a physical and political force, against which the will attempts to maintain posture and control. Through extended movements and sustained poses, limits are tested until the body escapes control and begins to develop a life of its own. A fragile balance between discipline and resistance, tension and release, determination and resignation becomes visible.
