Musée d'Art Moderne

For the re-opening of the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, Liquid Loft was invited to develop a site-specific performance which would enable the audience to discover the museum space and perceive the exhibits of modern arts in different ways. Unlike the situation in Leopoldmuseum, where the rooms were empty and the performers in a way „replaced“ the works of art, the historic paintings in Musée d’Art Moderne were present and the audience had to chose where to put their focus. The challenge for the performers was not to create an obvious link to the exhibits while performing in the same space, but to offer, by their presence and intervention, a slight shift of perspective or irritation for the audience as they walked into the exhibition space. While walking pace, itinerary and dwell time were freely chosen by each visitor, the performance offered new views and associations with regards to the exhibits.
