site-specific

Stand-Alones in public spaces puts choreographic miniatures, originally created to be performed in museums, in relation to urban architecture. Each individual dance interpretation is based on a specific music, language or sound composition. Thanks to the complex and flexible method of working with sound, which has been developed by Liquid Loft over the years, the performers create impressive solo-performances within urban spaces. Inspired by the revolutionary arts of form, line and perspective, the utopian characters of Liquid Loft emerge from an apparent vacuum. In a time of distance, they celebrate the physical, while shunning everything ornamental. The inexplicable is demonstrated and acted out, lingual mannerisms are being pleasurably dissected.

Choreographically the composition of Stand-Alones consists of a series of simultaneously performed solos which at certain points in the performance become synchronized and merge into an impressive polyphony of sound. The dramaturgy of the Stand-Alones is built upon the viewer’s own associations, the surrounding architecture, as well as the direction of movement and order in which the audience chooses to experience the performance.
